Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a condition that affects the nerves, leading to weakness and numbness in the arms and legs. This study is focused on evaluating a treatment called nipocalimab, which is given as a solution for infusion. The study aims to see how effective and safe nipocalimab is for adults with CIDP. Participants in the study will receive either nipocalimab or a placebo, which is a substance with no active medication, to compare the effects.
The main goal of the study is to determine if nipocalimab can delay the return of symptoms in people with CIDP who initially respond well to the treatment. The study is designed to be double-blind, meaning neither the participants nor the researchers know who is receiving the actual medication or the placebo. This helps ensure the results are unbiased. Participants will be monitored over time to see how their condition changes and to check for any side effects.
The study will take place over several stages, with participants being randomly assigned to different groups. Throughout the study, various health assessments will be conducted to track the progress of the disease and the effects of the treatment. The study is expected to continue until 2030, allowing researchers to gather comprehensive data on the long-term effects of nipocalimab in treating CIDP.
