Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a condition that affects the eyes of premature infants, potentially leading to vision problems. This study focuses on children who previously received treatment for ROP in an earlier study called VGFTe-ROP-1920. The treatment used in this study is a medication called Eylea, which contains the active substance aflibercept. This medication is given as an injection into the eye to help manage the condition.
The main goal of this study is to assess the long-term effects of the treatment on vision and safety in these children. Researchers will look at how well the children can see with both eyes and monitor any potential side effects over time. The study will also evaluate other aspects of eye health and development, such as the structure of the eyes and overall neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Participants in this study are those who were part of the previous VGFTe-ROP-1920 study. The study will continue to follow these children to gather information on their visual acuity, which is how clearly they can see, and any other health outcomes related to their previous treatment. The study is expected to conclude in 2026, providing valuable insights into the long-term impact of the treatment for ROP.
